One-of-a-kind Wedding | Chase Center San Francisco

A One-of-a-Kind San Francisco Wedding at Chase Center’s Above the Rim

Planning a wedding at Above the Rim at Chase Center is not for the faint of heart—but when everything comes together, it’s truly an experience you’ll never forget. L & M’s stunning wedding will forever be one of those pinch-me moments for our team, and we’re so excited to finally share the story!

This celebration was extra special because we were only the fourth or fifth event ever hosted at Above the Rim. Being part of a venue’s early chapter is always an honor, but it also comes with unique challenges—and this wedding had plenty. Still, it was such an incredible opportunity, and one that perfectly showcased what thoughtful design, detailed planning, and calm coordination can accomplish.

Planning a Wedding at Chase Center: Flexibility Is Everything

As a San Francisco Bay Area wedding planner, we’re used to navigating logistics—but planning a wedding inside Chase Center took flexibility to a whole new level.

Because the Golden State Warriors have exclusive access to the entire facility during home games, our assigned wedding date came with a major caveat: we needed to be prepared to move dates if the Warriors made playoff runs with home games scheduled. To protect the couple, we blocked off the entire month of April until the official game schedule was released.

Even after that hurdle was cleared, we learned there would be a large concert by a major Latin artist happening the same day—meaning street closures, heavy foot traffic, and heightened security protocols. This was already on-top of the existing security measures, where every vendor and guest had to be pre-registered, formally listed, and scanned through security. Load-in timing, setup windows, and guest arrivals all had to be meticulously planned around potentially massive waves of concertgoers.

With so many moving parts, we weren’t sure if a rehearsal would even be possible—but thankfully, the venue team was incredibly gracious and accommodated a quick walkthrough the day before. That small moment of calm made a huge difference.

It was a lot—but this is exactly where experience matters! In the end, some of our contingency plans didn’t need to be executed (which is always our aim and desire!) —and the day unfolded beautifully and smoothly.

Designing a “Late Night Out at the Game” Wedding Concept with Thoughtful Details That Told THEIR Story

From the very beginning, we designed, planned, and coordinated every aspect of L & M’s wedding with one clear vision in mind: a late-night out at the game.

L & M had so many interests, and instead of overwhelming the design, we intentionally narrowed our focus to meaningful highlight elements:

  • Books

  • Origami (honoring the bride’s Japanese heritage)

  • Music

  • Basketball

Every design choice flowed through this lens.

Food & Guest Experience

We opted for stationed dining instead of a formal plated dinner—ditching traditional entrees in favor of fun, elevated, appetizer-style bites. Guests enjoyed American, Italian, and Asian food stations.

Later in the evening, we set up a mochi donutt bar and rolled out a late-night snacks cart with classic game-time treats like candy, pretzels, and chips —perfect for keeping the energy up well into the night.

This wedding was packed with intentional, personal details—each one tying back to the couple’s story:

  • 🏀 The Warriors NBA Finals Championship Trophy was featured for guests to admire and take photos with

  • 🏀 Two oversized Gatorade-style jugs filled with white flower petals were used immediately after the ceremony—an iconic nod to post-game celebrations

  • 🎶 Vintage vinyl records were placed under each plate as chargers

  • 📚 Stacks of vintage books styled the sweetheart table and guest tables

  • 🕊️ The couple and their families worked diligently to fold 1,000 origami paper cranes that appeared everywhere:

    • In the ceremony arch

    • As place cards

    • Scattered throughout the venue as delicate décor

Each element felt playful, sentimental, and perfectly “them.”

A Wedding Experience Guests Will Never Forget

The energy in the room was electric. Guests were genuinely thrilled (and proud!) to attend a wedding at Chase Center—especially with so many Warriors fans in attendance.

The couple’s dressing suites were the very same rooms used by halftime performers like John Mayer, and the wedding party and family even got to take photos on the actual court. Walking those hallways—knowing players like Stephen Curry walk them regularly—was surreal and will forever be a core memory for our team.

Congratulations again to L&M!
