Italian-Filipino Inspired Spring Wedding | Viansa Winery Sonoma
Nestled in the rolling hills of Sonoma, R & M's wedding was a beautiful fusion of two cultures and a testament to their love story! Over the course of our one-and-half year wedding planning journey, we had the honor and privilege to help R & M plan, design, and coordinate their special day - bringing the elegance of Tuscany to California wine country and creating a celebration that felt entirely them~
Bringing Italian Heritage to Wine Country
Viansa Winery, with its classic architecture and sprawling vineyards, was the perfect backdrop for their elevated Tuscan-inspired wedding and honored the groom’s Italian heritage. For colors, we wanted to stray away from the overdone blush pinks and pastels, so we decided to go with a stunning blue color palette. The blue felt both feminine and reminiscent of the Mediterranean Sea and the clear skies of Italy. We found that this unique choice elevated the traditional Tuscan aesthetic, giving it a fresh, modern feel for R & M!
A Celebration of Filipino & Italian Cultures
Every detail of this Sonoma wedding was thoughtfully chosen to honor both the Bride’s Filipino and the Groom’s Italian heritages. The dessert table was a delightful blend of cultures, featuring traditional Italian cannolis alongside vibrant ube, calamansi, and coconut treats, a staple of Filipino cuisine.
During the ceremony, the bride's Filipino traditions were beautifully woven into the proceedings with the Ceremonial Rites and sponsors. The sponsors who helped perform the ceremonial rites were close friends and family members. The candle lighting ceremony, performed by their mothers, symbolized the union of their two families. The presentation of the veil, cord, and coin—each carrying deep meaning of the couple’s bond, new life together, and provision and partnership —was a powerful way to honor their shared history and commitment.
Personal Touches and Feline Friends
We made sure to also sprinkle in personal touches of the couple throughout the day. R & M’s love story would not be complete without their two adorable cats! They were featured as the signature drinks, adding a playful and personal touch to the cocktail hour. The guestbook and welcome table featured college flags of the university they met at.
We helped the couple source (and collaborated with) some great vendors to bring their design to life! Leading up to the wedding day, the couple hosted a fun welcome dinner for the family and bridal party at a popular local restaurant. With our indoor dining, we wanted to make the interior space more cozy by adding extra market lights. We also brought in some late night snacks and entertainment for the guests to dance and enjoy the whole night.
Everything about R & M’s day was truly a dream brought to life… We wish R & M a happy (belated) anniversary and many years of love and happiness!
