An Intimate Slide Ranch Wedding in Marin, Planned by a Bay Area Wedding Planner
With sweeping views of Muir Beach and Mt. Tamalpais State Park, A & A chose Slide Ranch in Marin, CA for its quiet beauty and relaxed, natural feel. Their goal was simple: host a beautiful day that felt meaningful, allowed them to spend real time with their guests, and fit naturally into the landscape around them.
One of the things we love most as a local wedding planner in the SF Bay Area is helping couples create celebrations that feel true to who they are — not overly styled, not rushed, and centered around the people they love most. A & A’s wedding was exactly that.
A wedding at the cliffside meant that nearly everything had to be brought in, setup, and broken down that same day. From photography, catering, furniture and rentals, florals, shuttles, lighting, restrooms, and so much more — we worked hard to build out a great vendor team. In a short amount of time to plan everything from start to finish (5 months to be exact!) , we helped build a cohesive design, communicated with guests and vendors, and finalized all logistics.
Letting the Natural Beauty of the West Coast Lead
Rather than trying to transform the space with excess production, we leaned into what Slide Ranch already does so well. Our design was intentionally understated — neutral tones, soft textures, and green and white florals that echoed the surrounding hills and coastline.
Every detail was chosen to complement the venue, not compete with it. The result was a wedding for A & A that felt calm, thoughtful, and completely at home in its setting — a style we understand when it comes to outdoor and coastal venues!
An Outdoor Ceremony & ReceptioN, FOCUSSING on Guests & Shared Memories
Guests gathered outdoors for the ceremony, with open views of the Marin coastline creating a peaceful and grounding atmosphere. The reception followed in the same open-air setting, allowing the day to unfold naturally without a lot of transitions or interruptions.
What made this wedding especially meaningful was how intentionally the couple honored their guests. Instead of traditional escort cards, each place setting featured a photograph the couple had taken with that guest over the years. It was a small, personal touch that sparked conversation and reminded everyone why they were there — to celebrate real relationships and shared history. These are the details we love most: thoughtful choices that make guests feel seen and appreciated.
Dessert was another moment where the couple’s story came through clearly. They chose to feature sweets inspired by both their Chinese and Korean heritage, offering guests flavors of Korean 떡 tteok (rice cakes) and Gochujang Caramel Cookies, and Chinese 月餅 (Moon Cakes). It was a simple but beautiful way to honor family, culture, and tradition — without over-formalizing the celebration.
Both the bride and groom are skilled ballroom dancers, and the groom choreographed a routine that became one of the most memorable moments of the evening. Their dance naturally shifted the energy from dinner into celebration. Before long, guests joined in and danced the night away, ending the evening on a joyful, high note.
